Couldn’t find parking. You need better signs!

Great small hiking trail. If it snows or rains it is very slippery and muddy especially with some areas being a bit steep. Otherwise nice scenery amd a enjoyable time outside in the fresh air. Just a note google maps doesn't take you to parking lot I recommend setting it to the park that's right next to it instead!

The Uplands Reserve is essentially an extension of the Bernadette Morales Nature Preserve but the former is county owned and the latter is township owned. Their trails are linked together. It is best to think if this as one larger Preserve for the sake of parking and navigating the trail system.
To access the trails, you will need to park in the lot for the Bernadette Morales Nature Preserve on Capner Street. From there, you will have to wind your way through the trails of the Bernadette Morales Preserve to get to the Uplands Reserve trail which is a 1.36-mile-long loop. We took the Uplands Trail counterclockwise from the Junction of the Meditation and Eagle trails. After a short distance you will begin to see the ruins of an old farm There are quite a few stone foundations that probably supported barns and other outbuildings. There is even the remains of a very old car that has trees growing through the rusting body. This portion of the trail is fairly wide and easy to walk. Once you reach the top of the hill and begin your decent towards Walnut Creek the trail gets rougher. There is a lot of erosion, and the trail has stretches that get very muddy for the rest of the loop. At one point, near the creek you will pass a deer exclosure that is part of an experiment to allow the forest to regenerate without the presence of deer which will eat everything in sight if allowed access.
All the trails are overrun with invasive plants and the result is not very visually appealing. The best part of the entire preserve was the section along Walnut Creek. As the creek makes its way down the hill, it has many little waterfalls that create a pleasant sound.
If you are looking for a place to exercise in nature, this preserve may fit the bill. If you are looking for beautiful scenery, I recommend looking elsewhere.
