Honestly some of the most top quality silkies in the area, 10/10 would recommend! Honestly I'm blown away by the birds I have from v&r, I would love to show them one day. The paints are genuine paints and have beautiful markings! Spend the extra and go for show quality silkie chicks, when your chicks become pullets/cockerels they will be worth double/triple in worth than what you bought them for because of the quality. Vivian is great, and awesome to talk to, she loves her birds and is super helpful if you need advice. I would not buy silkies/show girls anywhere else!

Very happy, healthy and cute chicks. I got the most adorable buff Orpington rooster. The absolutely sweetest chicken I ever met! The woman who runs the operation is excellent. Would recommend

On July 5, 2021, my husband and I bought our first ever set of chickens from V&R Homestead. We called in advanced and scheduled an appointment, then met with Vivian and Ray. Not ever owning chicken’s before, we had a list of questions, both Vivian and Ray took so much time to help educate us, they were extremely knowledgeable and very kind. They asked questions about the purpose for our chickens and helped guide us towards the chickens best suited for our needs. But what I noticed most was the joy in their faces when they talked about their chicks. You could tell they really cared about the chicks and the home they we’re going to. Since having the chicks at home, I have called a few times with additional questions, they answered right away, and seemed more then happy to help in any way they could. Vivian and Ray are invaluable resources you may not get elsewhere. Our chicks are growing up nicely, we are extremely pleased with them. Another reason we are happy we purchased our chickens from V&R Homestead is because they have breeds that you can’t get elsewhere, in fact, we have three endangered chicks that we may consider breeding, plus the chicks from V&R Homestead are “certified” healthy prior to selling them. We highly recommend V&R Homestead you won’t be disappointed.

We ordered 8 chicks from V & R Homestead. This was our first time ever mail ordering chicks so it was really great to have a helpful, patient, kind, and communicative person (Viviane) to work with! My texts and phone calls with Viviane were wonderful, like talking with a friend :) Our chicks were shipped “next day” on June 1st via USPS. Not due to any error by V & R, they arrived a little late (5:00 am on the 3rd) and were doing well. They were so lively that one of the 55 Swedes and a Creme Legbar jumped out as soon as we took the lid off the box. The chicks acclimated quickly to the brooder box and seem strong and healthy so far! We ordered 255s, 2 CLs, 2 Lavender Orpingtons, and 2 Brabanters. Unfortunately, not enough CL pullets hatched out, so we only ended up with one but Viviane was great with communication and refunded me for the other CL promptly. She was also in touch with me while we waited on pins and needles for the babies to arrive. 🤣 I am so excited to have some of the breeds I’ve always wanted without totally breaking the bank! Thank you V & R!

I had an amazing experience with this hatchery/homestead. They provided me with great customer service and the owners were really attentive and willing to answer all of my questions. I am new to owning chicks, but the experience that I am still receiving from the beautiful chicks that they provided for me is unexplainable! They even added in an extra chick which is one of the endangered breeds in the chicken industry (Cream Brabanters). I will definitely recommend getting your chicks from this homestead because they made the experience worth while. This will be my go to place to purchase any of my chicks in the near future.
