great spot for sunrise.
I found this perfect sunrise spot via Gemini. The lookout is conveniently located across the street from the parking lot, and it even offers an unexpected view of the NYC skyline. Despite the freezing cold, the sight of fellow watchers dressed like Teletubbies brings me joy and warmth - I am thankful! 🥰
This is such a beautiful area. It really is a place that should be experienced in person. It is easy to spend all day out here & only see a small percent of the forest. Bring some drinks & food to enjoy some food with great views.
Edit 11/2025:
Brought my daughter here so she can see all areas of NJ & how beautiful it is. I am sad to see so much trash everywhere. It's very disappointing & disrespectful. There are trashcans. If they are full, bring it back home. We need to keep our state clean. It's still amazingly beautiful 20 yrs later. But it is apparent that not everyone who visits is responsible & respectful.
Such a nice little place to come to read about history and enjoy a gorgeous view any time of year. It's especially nice during Fall when all of the leaves are changing. You can see a view of the NYC skyline with your naked eye off to the left, or use the 25 cent viewer. Good for families to have a picnic at the tables for free! No charge, limited parking.
An incredibly beautiful place with a stunning panoramic view. There’s so much sky that it feels like it’s right in front of you. Parking is located across the road, and during peak hours it can get full, but if you wait 5–10 minutes, someone usually leaves and a spot opens up.
Well! It’s a good spot with a good view! You can stop by and take a couple of pictures, rest a little bit, and continue your day. If you want to enjoy the New York view, you can use the binoculars with a 25-cent coin! In reality, it's nothing extraordinary, but you can see far away. I think it looks better later at night after sunset. In the opposite direction, there's a parking lot (not too big), but you can park there for free."
