Dropped by for a quick breakfast (not a hotel guest). Got the steak and eggs ($22); the portions and quality were great. Nice staff and really enjoyed visiting when the weather was good.
We came here because the bar was full, and ended up pleasantly surprised! We ordered a charcuterie board, two mocktails (Golden Child), an ice cream, and the truffle fries.
The drinks were incredibly refreshing—like a mix of lemon juice and strawberry jam, with the perfect balance of sweet and sour. The truffle fries with spicy mayo were delicious and not too greasy.
We especially loved the ice cream—the flavor was so rich and satisfying.
Definitely a place we’d come back to!
I had a snack and a drink here last summer and the staff, although rushing to open and set up, let us in a tiny bit early and waited on us and were very hospitable. I had a great first experience and hope to revisit soon.
It’s been awhile since we’ve dined here. I am very disappointed that they’ve changed their menu, and took out what I like: the branzino, and the spicy broccolini. I also liked their steak the last time, but alas! tonight they didn’t have any steaks in stock. The scallops appetizer hit the spot. The braised rib was delicious but a bit fatty and oily. The seafood paella was good but not as good as any Spanish restaurant that’s dime-a-dozen in NYC. The salmon was just ok. And the pasta was just ok. The dessert absolutely saved the evening. The chocolate donuts were warm, light, and not too sweet — just perfect. The library decor and vaulted ceiling also are high points of this restaurant. Service was friendly and warm. Will consider returning depending on the menu. Note: 20% gratuity is automatic.
I really liked their broccolini. Surprisingly, it was spicy and seasoned with cumin, which made it really interesting and flavorful. The steak and chicken were also good, though the prices are on the higher side. The chicken was a bit dry, so I’d recommend the steak over the chicken. Also, a small tip: when ordering, it’s better to ask for a level of doneness that’s slightly rarer than what you actually want. For example, if you want it medium, order medium rare to avoid it being overcooked.
The restaurant’s environment is nice. The high ceiling gives the space an open and airy feel, and the colorful bottles and books on the wall look really cozy and relaxed under the sunlight. It creates a very laid-back vibe. That said, if you’re not ordering drinks, don’t expect much extra attention from the staff. The service is fine, but i feel the place leans more towards being a bar. If you’re hanging out on Roosevelt Island and want a spot to chill for a bit, I’d still recommend stopping by.
