Cool, old (originally opened in 1909) tavern. Google said their Bloody Marys were supposed to be good, but there was definitely something missing from their recipe. The wings were big and tasty, but probably should have been cooked a little more.
Cassie, Sandy and their staff are so gracious and warm. We felt like we were friends over their home for a meal. A warm feel and so clean with fresh flowers on the tables. Incredible menu from breakfast to dinners all made fresh in house lots of Gluten free options and deserts worth the visit alone.
So reasonable.
Great coffee too.
Thanks Cassie. We’ll be back
Jim & Carrie.
It’s only a half joke, but I always tell people the reason I moved back from Minnesota is the Country Corner. The food is always great, the beer selection is the best you’re going to get from any bar on Long Island, and they’re always rotating the kegs, so if you liked what you ordered, come back in the next few days because it might be gone by then. The staff are wonderful all around, can’t say that enough. You could show up once and come back a month later and they’ll still remember your name. Get the honey mustard chicken sandwich, a Bavarian pretzel, some Darby wings, whatever beer is on number 9, and join the mug club
Fantastic beer and tasty hot wings in a charming atmosphere that feels like you went back in time. The bartender was very upbeat, friendly, and helpful with picking a beer.
Go for the wing, stay for everything else.
I got to hang out with my son tonight and have dinner with him. What a great time.
I picked him up from a place in Stony Brook and tried to figure out somewhere to go for dinner when I remembered a country corner. It is a local unassuming bar in setauket.
When I was a kid I watched a show called Cheers. I really have a feeling that this place would be cheers. Just a very cozy warm location in the heart of setauket and the bartender was friendly with a smile.
When we walked in it wasn't very crowded and we got a table right away. The boy obviously ordered wings. He said they were very good and the sauce had a little bit of heat. Him and I eat fire so these would be good for the average human but when you've got lava tongue next to me you understand that they're not hot enough. They were meaty and delicious.
I talked to the bartender. This guy Joe recommended an A1 Burger. He said it was really good. I trusted him he had that kind of face( picture to follow later). When the burger arrived I ordered it rare and honestly was excited that it actually came out rare. The burger was full of flavor thick cut and delicious.
For those of you that are beer drinkers, the beer wall was huge. They were changing names as I was going to take pictures so I think these are the newest ones.
I had a stout tonight that was phenomenal. I like my beer thick and this one I felt like I could cut with a knife. I never got its name but I will definitely be looking for it again. I have to ask Joe the next time I'm there.
I'm definitely adding this to my list of places to go. What an awesome time with my son.
