An urban farm on an island (Governor's Island) that has everything you can imagine growing there and a fascinating view of Manhattan's skyline. Seems surreal yet it is definitely real and beautiful.
I really enjoyed learning about Earth Matter's work, and how they compost food scraps. Especially fun to see how chickens and other animals are a part of their composting process!
Also learned about other initiatives on Governor's Island, like the Billion Oyster Project and the lavender field. It makes a great day trip out to the island to check it all out.
Fabulous place. The marker shows the main entrance. There is another entrance, the rear entrance (though not open to public) at 640-658 Craig Rd S, Brooklyn, NY.
