El Mariaichi is a great place for good Mexican food, right off I-84 in Holmes.
This is the second time we went there and the owner of the place made us feel welcome and helped us with the dishes.
Based on his recommendation, I got Camarones al Mojo de Ajo. The butter-lemon-garlic sauce was just outstanding!!
Very nice experience overall!
in a really unassuming spot you'll find some of the best Mexican food in the area, and the service was fantastic. All the dishes were amazing, and truly authentic.
Not just good - GREAT. The best Mexican food I’ve had on the east coast. A destination restaurant. Amazing service.
We stopped by here on a whim for lunch, after visiting Fishkill Farms, which is just minutes away and WHAT A FIND.
Chips and salsa to start, for free - the chips still warm, the salsa was out of this world. The waiter could tell I liked it and brought out three extra servings. What a kind man.
Then tortilla soup and street corn, grilled to perfection with seasoned exactly right.
Then tacos al carbon (lunch portion has 2 and dinner portion has 3). Steak tips grilled exactly right, with a grilled green tomato salsa on top. I will go so far as to say this is the best taco I’ve had anywhere or around NYC.
Lastly Pollo Mariachi was this incredible lemon and garlic chicken filé served with the perfect yellow rice and beans.
Tamarindo and Diet Coke.
We sat in the enormous patio at the back, that overlooks the lawn and after that the green woods. The breeze and music, was just ambiance perfection.
Compliments to the chef and all staff.
Spectacular. Ten outta ten. No flaws. I’ll be back FOR SURE and recommend it highly for everyone - this restaurant is world traveling for.
The cousins that run El Mariachi are the nicest guys. The food is very good - I especially liked the scallions cut up in the grilled steak tacos and the homemade habanero hot sauce - but the friendly service and value for your money are what put this restaurant over the top for me. It’s hard to find a restaurant that features tacos, rice and beans as a combo. I always look for that because I need a lot to eat and many times the rice and beans have to be ordered from the sides menu with a price that nears the tacos themselves. Not at El Mariachi. The food, the view, and the breeze on the back deck were all refreshing as well. I would *definitely* come back here again. If you get a chance to stop by, ask Gilberto about the bunnies who ate the jalapeños from his onsite garden 😂
Great selection of food / drinks / dessert. Staff is very friendly. Great pit stop right off the highway. Try the Tres Leches cake, and the corn on the cob. Large selection of drinks also available. Agua Frescas also offered here in many flavors. The inside dining hall is great and there’s plenty of parking and handicap accessible entrance. Outside is a large yard great for group events and outings etc. 5 stars.
