Great nature on the carmans river bring kayack for nice 6 mile run
An absolute gem of eastern Long Island. Not many visitors, quiet & beautiful. I spent most of the pandemic in here & it really brought me so much peace. Yearlong visits are recommended.
Our favorite stop on the Black Tupelo trail at Wertheim national wildlife refuge. Best hour of the week. No words to describe this beautiful place. Go there!
Indian Landing is the most common destination near the end of the Black Tupelo Trail. From the visitor parking lot head South (left) along the East side of Carmans River. There are opportunities to see ducks, Osprey, Red Tail Hawks, Northern Harriers, the occasional Red Fox or Wild Turkey. Currently there is a nesting pair of Bald Eagles and a left-over juvenile from last year's clutch directly across Carmans River from Indian Landing..
