Mangiamo Italian Market & Deli

Listed as Italian market. More like Italian sandwich shop. Fresh mozzarella in the refrigerator, no fresh ricotta, faces & attitude when I asked for sopprossata to be skin removed before slicing. This is a must & never was anyone confused by this request in an Italian market or pork store. Maybe the lack of actual Italian workers there? I will go to Fratellis in Centereach for my antipasto ingredients in the future. I will say there prosciutto bread & bread choices are very good.

Since we moved to Setauket, we go to Mangiamo regularly! Great sandwiches! They make porchetta, fresh turkey, roast beef, pastrami, etc. IN HOUSE and it’s way better than BH (but they do carry a full selection of BH cold cuts). Imported pastas, beautiful selection of antipasto products, salads, breads, etc. We have had them cater Holidays 3 times and the huge Italian family compliments everything! The hot foods are ever changing and very well made…you may decide to simply not cook! I get pounds of the fried eggplant when I want to make parm…it’s sliced consistently thin and has little to no seeds. Added bonus is that they carry ANTONI’S RAVIOLI (Massapequa) products. The boxes are frozen but just as delicious and no more trips to Massapequa! There are other Italian delis in our area, but none as good as Mangiamo!!!

Went there today for 2 heroes, #35 and H-18, they forgot to heat H-18, fortunately we were eating them at home so was able to heat it up, not gonna dock a star though, they just recently opened, and are super busy, and this small mistake didn’t take away from the fact that the heroes were amazing, and the semolina bread they use was perfect, it’s clean, well staffed, priced well, and the selection is amazing from specialty cheeses and pastas, take and heat ready dinners, breads, top quality cold cuts and antipastos, had my head spinning, definitely need to go back and try more. Excited to have a store like this in our area.

Insanely delicious sandwiches that exceeded expectations are served here! I had the #35 and my husband had the #H-6. We also got wings and Brussel sprouts as well as pastries and other desserts. This is certainly one stop shopping with countless options. I will definitely be back in next week! Customer service here is great too.
