Manhattan Kayak Co

As a lifelong beach and water sports fiend, I've struggled to adapt to the concrete jungle of NYC. And then I found this place. Despite 2 seasons of this, I still struggle to get past my gross out factor of the Hudson, so I'm not immersing myself in the water anytime soon. But, standing on top of it is amazing! Going out on a SUP up and down the river is not only an incredible workout, it's an experience of NY like no other. And, being able to do it with amazing people is even better! The folks here are supportive, encouraging, and definitely focused on safety, safety, safety, which is a good thing!

Who knew travelling to New Jersey could be so much fun?! If I could afford it, I'd be out every weekend. This Florida girl might even go out on a winter day because it's too long to wait for next summer! For sure, there are many trips to come and many opportunities for me to stop being afraid of the perfectly fine Hudson waters :) (no third limbs of anyone I know of yet!).

No matter your level or interest, they have something for you. Highly recommend!!!

We had an incredible experience with Manhattan Kayak Co! They made an exception to fit us in, and everything was amazing. The view of Manhattan from the water was unforgettable, the location is great, and our instructor Jay was fantastic. Excellent customer service — highly recommend!

We had such a wonderful experience with Manhattan Kayaking Company! The staff was incredibly accommodating—when the weather wasn’t ideal for kayaking, I reached out via email and they responded quickly, adjusting our reservation to the time slot we requested with no hassle.

They’re also extremely dog-friendly. We brought our foster dog Mission for his very first kayaking trip. He was a bit nervous when we tried to put on his life jacket, and the team was so patient, kind, and gave us the space and time we needed. They were also very supportive and gentle when we helped Mission onto the kayak, making sure we all felt safe and comfortable.

Overall, we had a lovely time. The staff was friendly, respectful, and helpful throughout. I’d highly recommend them to anyone—especially fellow dog lovers! They also offer a variety of tours for different levels, which look super fun. Looking forward to coming back!

Small kayaking area next to the intrepid great for novice kayaking or those who have never been on water before. If you’re looking for a “thrill” this probably isn’t it but a good way to kill an hour on a hot day in NYC.

Staff is extremely helpful and lifejackets are provided. I believe it was $12 per person for the hour. They give a little demo and then send you out into the size of a pond arena.
