I had Dr. Muttana as my doctor and switched to a different doctor in the same practice at the recommendation of a family member also in the same field.

I am sure she had been wondering why I did so, because it was actually a great appointment when I saw Dr. Muttana. I've mentioned to others what happened, so I figured Dr. Muttana should know too.

I will say Dr. Muttana is a great doctor. She's personable, spends appropriate time with you, and by far has the best bedside manner of any doctor I've ever met. I continuously tell people that Dr. Muttana's bedside manner is better than any other doctor's I've experienced, and I've experienced a lot and have a lot of favorite doctors in multiple specialities but their bedside manner doesn't remotely compare to Dr. Muttana.

The issue for me in switching was not a personal choice, as I have a veteran relative in this practice in another state who recommended another doctor, again, in the same practice. His decision was governed by some opinions she gave that he didn't necessarily agree with. I can't tell you how awkward it felt to move. But the biggest reason I moved from my own experience is that Dr. Muttana was very slow to reply to portal messages. I waited 9 days in angst about concerns and didn't receive a response for that long, which to me was concerning when I was already on edge about abnormal test results. That's why I am taking off a star, and fortunately for Dr. M, this is an easy fix.

She's a terrific doctor. Again, she's so very personable. But there is a knowledge gap (coming from a doctor with 40 years in nephrology) and electronic follow through was lacking, and that is something that needs work. Again, super easy fix, and I hope that gets passed onto her. I can imagine it's busy to take time to do the computer thing when you're doing so much for your patients face to face, but that follow through often gives the patient the closure they may still need especially after labs come in. Waiting so long for interpretation is scary when you see numbers off the charts.

Keep up the great bedside manner, it's terrific. But please don't forget about the second part of patient communication: the portal.
