Fantastic parking spot… Great access and very well kept even through the government shutdown.
This is the closest access point to the fire Island lighthouse so early to walk to the Lighthouse
Big parking field. Northeast end has boardwalk to lighthouse and also pedicab pickup to take you to lighthouse or Kismet firehouse so you can walk into Kismet from the firehouse. $5pp to lighthouse, $10pp to Kismet firehouse. If you choose to walk to Kismet from field 5, it's 1.25 miles to kismet firehouse where the pedicab pickup and drop-off is. It's 1.6 to the Dive restaurant from the field 5 pedicab station.
We went to see the waves and sunset, just a beautiful beach, field five. It's walking distance to the lighthouse or if your feeling adventurous, Kismet for a nice lunch or dinner. Make a day out of it, you will fully enjoy...
Always clean and people keep to themselves and are polite. There isn't loud music blasting and if you come on a weekday, it is not too crowded and you can find a great spot close to the shore. Life guards are attentive and there is a little shop with merch, ice cream and a small menu of lunch items. My family and I love to go once a week during the summer.
A nice, quiet beach that is ideal for surfing. Coast guards are present at a certain part of the beach and the lighthouse is visible from this spot. The parking lot is free after 4pm.
