They take good care of the residents in the nursing home. They have good food for them and activities on the calendar every day. They have music, arts and crafts, and games for the residents. They even have patios for the residents to sit outside in the fresh air and enjoy a BBQ when the weather is warm. I definitely recommend St. Johnland. Both of my parents were in 5 different nursing homes for rehab in Suffolk County. My dad is now at St. Johnland permanently and I would have to say that it's been the best. The staff has been great.

The direct support staff is generally Ok so I give them the 2 stars. The administration is heartless, manipulative & mean. They evicted my father for behavior that was related to dementia on top of depression due to the loss of his wife of almost 70 years. They blindsided us & then lied straight faced to us at a "care team" meeting for our father. My father was supposed to be evaluated at SBU, but while being evaluated at SBU, SJL evicted him. Tossed him out. They never had any intention of letting him come back. Our dad died a month later (4/16/25) & I blame the administration, social work department, head nurse & doctors. They broke the heart & the spirit of a relatively healthy man who was loved by his family but required the care & supervision promised by SJL. We regret ever admitting our father to SJL. They should be ashamed but I doubt they are.
    My name is Suzin Z.

My 100 year old aunt was discharged from the hospital after recovering from double pneumonia. She was very weak and could no longer walk or get out of a chair on her own. She couldn’t eat on her own.
She was transferred to St Johnlands Nursing center.
They took wonderful care of her. A big shoutout to the Nurses, the Aids and especially the folks in Rehab especially Edwin.
After several weeks of intensive PT and OT, she fought her way back and was able to get up out of the chair and start walking with her walker.
The kitchen staff were great. She picked her menus each week from the Dietician’s recommendations. She loved the food.
The shining star was her Social Worker Briana. She looked over my aunt like she was her mother.
My Aunt is alive and well back in St Johnlands Assisted Living, enjoying her friends and the great care she receives there. We are so blessed and thankful for the care she received.

My brother has been a nursing home resident for 12 years. After neglect and abuse at his last facility, moving to St Johnland is a breath of fresh air for us. We wanted a caring and supportive environment, and we have found that. The Assistant Director of Nursing Victoria has always supported us, and has made herself available to any problem we might encounter. Her care for my brother over the years has always warmed my heart, and we have happily followed her to this new facility because we know her work ethic is spot-on, and her caring heart has always led the way to my brother receiving excellent care. With her overseeing my brothers care, I can return to my home in another State with confidence that he will be well cared for. In our first week, we have met the administrator and CEO of the facility; Eileen in admissions, who so graciously put up with me calling and checking on our waiting list position and keeping in contact with me; our social worker Mary Kate has been quick to make sure we are settling in easily; the nurses, Diamond and Briana, and aides Sandra and Meldona (we have met so many wonderful people already, and I wish I remembered everyone’s names) have all come in and introduced themselves and always seem to have a smile on their faces and a kind word to share. My brother can be spicy some days, but everyone is able to work with him and that gives me such peace of mind! The Patient Care Coordinator Joanne has helped my brother acclimate to the unit and has made it so easy for us. She has communicated with me every step of the way about my brothers care, and has made this a seamless transition. The recreation aide Carolyn spent quite a bit of time with us, getting to know my brother and attempting to make sure he is active in the many programs available to the residents. He has already had his first haircut and shave!! We are so happy to become a part of the St Johnland family, and look forward to meeting more of the wonderful people who work here and do such an amazing job caring for the residents.
