My son and I visited the Mad Batter Tea Room this weekend. For his birthday he requested a special day with his mom. The ladies at the tea room did not disappoint. The food was lovely. The service was personable and we had a lovely afternoon. Definitely a memory we will cherish forever.
This place is so magical and amazing. I must start by saying that 2 years ago we lost our daughter and we celebrate her on the day of her passing every month and year on the 9th. She loved Alice in Wonderland so much and we searched for a place to remember and honor her that was Alice themed. This place just happened to pop up and we went. This place was AMAZING! The food was delicious and fresh. All baked goods were baked fresh on the premises. The staff and owner were so wonderful and welcoming! The decor made you feel like you stepped into Wonderland. The vintage feel was so at home. We shared with the owner why we were there and she was so sweet and gave me 2 charms I will cherish forever. A key which is the key to my heart, where I will forever keep my beautiful daughter and a charm of Alice, whom my daughter truly was in life, curious, kind and wonderful! I would truly recommend this place to anyone!
If you really want to feel you've fallen through the looking glass, this is the place for you. Eye-popping prices ($50 for a tea sandwich and cookie "tower" including an $8 "plate share fee" for a second person), and about $25 for the child's "tower," consisting of half a nutella and half a PB&J sandwich, some apple sauce, a few orange slices, a piece of brownie, and a dwarf-sized scoop of ice cream.
And please identify the "sandwich" in the photo. Do you recognize the meat? I could not make it out, visually or from the taste (yes, for $50, you can be sure I ate it, grateful that there was only one slice of whatever it was.) And not to be too picky, but how difficult would it have been to spread the dot of whatever was on that sandwich (again, see photo) over the entire piece of bread?
The sandwiches were blah and mysterious at the same time, the cookies were supermarket quality, the tea was tepid.
The bill with tip for two adults and one child was about $100.
But take your 10 year old daughter or granddaughter there and have a truly unique experience and lots of laughs at the absurdity of this place. If everyone on Long Island goes there once (the idea of going back is unthinkable) then this place will be around til Lewis Carroll himself returns from the dead.
Omg! The decor was amazing!! Perfect Alice in Wonderland figurines, clocks, and many other treasures! Not to mention hats!! To be worn during tea! The full tea was scrumptious and the tea was delicious. Service great too! A fun experience!!
Recently had my sister's Bridal Shower here. It was beautiful and everyone loved the tea house. Customer Service was lovely from the time we arrived for set up. The servers were very attentive to help us, service for the bridal shower was great. The food is great for high Tea, everything tasted fresh. Delicious scones that are paired with clotted cream and jelly! YUM! The desserts were delicious! It’s an little enchanted tea room. I would highly recommend the Mad Batter for your events.
