As I am a retired LCSW, I may be a bit biased, so please take my review with that in mind. When I arrived at the Mahopac office, there was a sign stating that there is no waiting room, but it left me feeling unsure of whether I should knock or call to enter. It was awkward, not welcoming. I had a session for which I would give mixed reviews, but then I guess they may have forgotten to send me all the initial paperwork to fill out before arrival, and insisted I sit with an I-Pad afterward and complete it all and sign off, but it was multiple pages to try to read on a small device, many pages of which were screenings for depression and such. I told them I did not have the time to sit and do this and I agreed to do it all on my desktop when I got home. They made me feel very uncomfortable as they tried to insist I comply and do it on the spot. I went home and did it all. The screening questions offered many possible responses to questions but did not allow for accurate responses, ie: " do you experience a particular issue "once, many times, or all the time". How about the choice of "occasionally" or "infrequently"? no space to elaborate. Thus, I could not answer the questions accurately in order to complete and sign off. I asked the therapist if she would like feed back and she offered a place for me to respond which involved signing into the "cloud" which I didn't want to do, but decided to attempt.I failed to accomplish this but it is unclear if there was a technical issue or if I am just not computer literate enough. This all left me feeling more frustrated after waiting many years to attempt to find a therapist. So in summary, I do not know how things might have been if were able to get past this first experience and maybe they do a good job, but I will probably never know.

The nurse practitioner we have worked with at the Teal Door is kind and compassionate. Sadly, the same cannot be said about the administrative staff. In 1 year, there has been a revolving door of client facing customer service/ billing people. Billing has been inaccurate. Calls and emails go unanswered. Incorrect personal information has been sent through text. The most recent person I spoke with threatened to withdraw service due to non-payment even after I have spent several months trying to get someone on the phone to review the billing. It's enough to make me want to change service providers.

I cannot say enough good things about the therapists and staff at The Teal Door. From the front desk staff who are warm and inviting to the therapists themselves who go above and beyond. It is rare that you can go to any professionals office and have them value your time by being on time. It’s a refreshing change. In crisis, my therapist is always available via text or phone. She really takes the time to know me, doesn’t allow me to make excuses and really focuses on what I need and how best to accomplish achieving it. It’s not a simple process but if you are willing to put in the work to m are it work, the therapists at The Teal Door will be with you every step of the way, encouraging, guiding, pushing and calling BS when needed.

I can’t say enough good things about this office and if you need help, I highly recommend talking to someone there!
