I have always heard great things about TFWW and have even recommended it to others. I hiked out there in person on a 95 degree day after a long day at work hoping to get a little advice for a home project I was tackling. The first employee I talked to was alternatingly distracted, discouraging, and befuddled with me and my needs in a way I interpreted as passively aggressive. I found their behavior off-putting and even hostile. I realize not everyone has the same social skills, but don't put someone like this in a customer-facing role. I had to insist on speaking to the other employee present, who was helpful and able to give me advice and recommend products. It was not cheap, but hopefully I have success with my project. Unfortunately, I will no longer be recommending this place to others based on my experience.

As a hobbyist woodworker, intermediate in my knowledge of which tools to use for what tasks, I recommend both the Brooklyn showroom for people in or near NYC and ordering online. The times I've had a question during business hours and needed an answer in real time I've always reached a knowledgeable helpful human on the phone without voice prompt/phone tree hassles. I have returned only one tool in my approximately 12 years as a customer. The return experience was the best I've ever had.

bespoke nails, curated hand tools, it's like a speakeasy for woodwork. I sought the place out to aquire a specific product not many places carry, but they list on their website.
Then when I get there, they have it in stock. I forgot what that was like. The staff is really helpful and knowledgeable and all that too. Truly inspirational.

Very small show room space, and most of the items sold in the space don't have a price tag - you have to ask the clerk for a price, and during our visit, the clerk was busy doing other things, seemed 'unavailable', and a little unfamiliar with the tools I was in inquiring after.

The tools seem good quality, they had two small workbenches set up with the occasional scrap of wood (you might need to ask for one) you could try some of the tools on and the selection is definitely far better than any big box stores when it comes to woodworking with hand tools, but the show room experience left a little to be desired.

They've got hardware, sharpening stones of all kinds, tools, files, consumables, etc. Without prices on the items, be prepared for some sticker shock when you get to the register!
