i had a great experience at the emergency department today. I came in to get a wound stitched and while checking in i had a panic attack and wanted to go home but i was encouraged to stay and got taken in immediately. Everybody’s bedside manners were amazing and it calmed me down from the panic attack. I got taken to a bed and had some time to relax for a moment. A lady came in to collect my stuff and clothes so i could have a gown and socks, she was stern and cold but it’s okay because literally everyone else was amazing. I got a blanket and warmed up while waiting for my tetanus shot. They took a urine sample and i went back to my bed. I got my tetanus shot with amazing bedside manners again. Shortly after, i got my lidocaine shots and we began the sutures. Rikki was amazing and talked with me so kindly and made sure i was completely numb and was therapeutic. The nurse who took my blood for a test was also amazing and super sweet. The psychiatrist was really awesome too and super reasonable. I got my discharge papers and aftercare instructions and everything was explained super well. I came in for stitches, but left with hope and feeling cared for. All the security guards were super nice as well and i asked a paramedic for directions on my way out and he walked me to the door. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I was admitted to the emergency department and was treated by Dr. Douglas Mathern. I am deeply grateful for his professionalism, attentiveness, and care. Dr. Mathern explained everything clearly and calmly, which helped me feel safe and well cared for. Doctors like him are truly rare. Thank you, Dr. Mathern, for your compassion and excellent care!
