Nice and helpful staff. Walked around the West Pond. Lot more birds in May/June than in September.

An oasis. An oasis accessible by public transportation. So a gem, then. An oasis gem.

My mom and I have visited this place many years ago and had a wonderful time there this was because there were educational displays, also bathrooms were nice and clean. The people that worked there were nice and friendly.

Friendly visitor center is an anchor of the refuge. Employees are genuinely welcoming and restrooms are in a good shape. Large parking lot with plenty of parking, lots of picnic tables next to visitor center. Loop around the West Pond is most popular one with bird watchers and known for its picturesque views of the bay. To get some mileage I typically add to this loop a hike via North spur and then return back via East Firebreak trail path (carefully crossing Cross Bay blvd).
