Thomas is a fantastic piano teacher who I would highly recommend. I really enjoy my piano practice and have learned so much. I did take a few lessons as a child and tried online teaching, which really did not work for me. Thomas is a classically trained piano player and has been teaching piano for many years/multiple decades. I have been taking lessons for almost 3 years and with each new book of Christmas songs I can see how much progress has been made. Thomas teaches children and adults and can modify his approach for each student. He thinks about his lessons and modifies to suit the adult learner for example. Lessons are 30 minutes each week and he can be flexible when work or other life events interfere with lessons. I think children should play sports and I think they should learn music too, and learning piano provides a great musical foundation. Whether for yourself or your children consider piano lessons with Thomas!
Thomas is by far one of, if not the best instructors I have had in any discipline I have learned over the years. If I had kids and were to have them start learning piano, Thomas would be the first person I would call. Being 21 and never having previous piano experience, I was worried about how taking lessons would go. However, the path that Thomas decided to take me down has helped me make great strides in my piano skills in the short summer I had with him. If I were living in CT year round, I would continue to take lessons with him. I was willing to drive 70 minutes from Clinton to Watertown just to take lessons from him, and every one was worth it. I can't speak highly enough of how great of an instructor Mr. Mazuroski truly is.
From watching my sister learn how to play the piano, I became interested on how to play as well. I started taking lessons from Mr. Mazuroski at the age of 8 and I have been with him for 10 years. I have enjoyed every lesson as he makes it challenging and fun. He is very patient and knowledgeable about the history of the piano and music. He brings out the best in me and helps me develop confidence in myself while performing in the annual piano recital. I would highly recommend Mr. Mazuroski for anyone who is interested in learning how to play the piano.
I am a music professional, singing internationally at a variety of events, but I have always wanted to learn piano. During my first conversation with Tom, I knew he would be a great piano teacher. He was very easy to speak with, though I found his methods to be incredibly structured and disciplined. As a vocal coach myself, I understand that you get what you pay for, and that results are achieved through practice. I find his rates to be very reasonable for the level of his professionalism and talent. Tom motivates me to work hard so that I'm proud to attend every lesson. Really blown away to see a one-star review here. I don't recommend many people, but I'd highly recommend Tom for any budding pianist. He will always be upfront and honest, and he cares for the student whole-heartedly. He's NOT another music teacher who's only out to make a buck. Tom's devotion is evident, and any eager student or parent will see it immediately.
I have been taking Piano lessons from Tom for 7 months now. Prior to Tom, I was studying under two other teachers who charged excessive amounts of money and had no method, essentially leaving me feeling frustrated and with the idea that Piano was just out of my reach at 45 years of age. From the first lesson to the most recent, Tom utilizes a very simple but effective approach that has me now playing Bach's First Prelude. Although all success is dependent upon the students ability and willingness to practice, my recommendation for anyone seeking to learn, improve or bring their piano experience to the next level is to seek Tom and his guidance. I can not give him justification with mere words, but rather compel you to see for yourself just how Masterful his method truly is. ***Update April 24, 2014 I was surprised to find an adverse review of Mr. Mazuroski, especially as it relates to his fee schedule and Lesson policy. I for one can tell you, being an aspiring Musician, my experience with Tom, and his candidness and ability to be direct in a manner that is conducive to good Lesson Practices has acquired him a reputation within the Music Community as a well respected and well preferred Master Teacher. Perhaps one should look at the alternatives and educate themselves as to who places themselves out there as a teacher before passing unfounded judgments. If there were an option for 10 stars for the rating, Tom continues to get 11!
