Steep Rock Preserve in Washington, CT, made for the perfect autumn hike! The fall colors were stunning as we followed the Yellow Trail to the Blue Square, which led us through the historic tunnel and across a scenic bridge, before winding back along the Green Trail around the mountain. The Preserve’s landscape is truly varied, with riverside views, rocky outcrops, and woodsy paths, making it a rewarding experience for both novice and seasoned hikers.

Adding to the Halloween vibe, I couldn’t resist channeling my inner witch while trekking through the winding paths. The place felt like a hidden forest world, just right for getting into the spooky spirit!

Highly recommend Steep Rock for anyone looking to soak up New England’s seasonal beauty and enjoy an immersive, nature-filled day! 🍂🧙‍♀️🌲

It's one of my favorite hikes in CT. Serene and quiet. During this hike, you'll encounter friendly faces, a serene body of water, a suspended bridge, and a really cool train tunnel. There's a table or two for you to sit and enjoy a beautiful picnic out in nature.

Beautiful views, several trail options. Highly recommend looking at their map before your hike. Different levels of hiking available - Dog and Horse Friendly. Car friendly in some parts as well. Planning to come back again

This is a favorite hiking spot for my wife and I. It is a good 4+ mile loop to the summit that has some incline, but nothing to crazy. The view from the top is beautiful, but there are also other areas you can check out, such as the tunnel. If you want an easier family friendly walk, you can stay on the dirt road along the river. This place is also very dog friendly!

Had such a great time hiking today! Was hoping to find the tunnels but we had limited time to wander, tons of people with dogs and riding horses along this trail. Such a beautiful spot! Several trails were easy and some were a bit more intense with the pitch and climbing the side of the mountain. Killer spots and views through out!
