On our way from PA to MA we decided to stop here and even made a 40-minute detour specifically for this place. Unfortunately, it wasn’t really worth it.
The service was good and the location is nice — I can imagine it being especially lovely in the summertime. However, the food itself was pretty average. My Reuben sandwich was disappointing: it didn’t have corned beef and wasn’t served on rye bread — instead it came with white bread and regular ham. Honestly, it felt like something I could have picked up at a random stop along I-84.
Overall, it was okay, but not worth going out of the way for.
We stopped by The White Horse Restaurant and had such a great experience. The fish and chips were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside — not greasy at all. The sweet potato fries were excellent, and the lemon wedge on the side added a nice fresh touch.
For dessert, we tried the peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream, and it was absolutely delicious — warm, comforting, and just the right sweetness. It went perfectly with a cup of coffee.
The service was friendly and relaxed, and the food came out hot and fresh. Overall, a cozy, welcoming place with food that’s clearly made with care. Definitely worth a visit!
My girlfriend and I stopped by after hiking and it was worth it. She had the chicken pot pie, I got the NY strip, and we shared the truffle mac & cheese and chocolate soufflé — everything was delicious. The place was busy so we sat at the bar, but the bartender was super friendly and attentive. Overall, great food and cozy atmosphere. Would definitely come back!
Lovely bistro next to a peaceful creek. The service is excellent and the extensive American-based menu has something for everyone. Anglo historians would enjoy the owner's extensive collection of authentic centuries old British documents.
The White Horse is very reasonably priced for the quality of food, service and ambience .
The place has a lovely outside view and the waitress was really friendly. The pink horse and the coconut shrimp were delicious. We also ordered the short ribs plate which had pasta and was big enough for sharing.
