This is licensed as a boarding house, not an assisted living. (Sign says Assisted Care not Assisted Living) Your loved one can only legally stay here if they can exit the building on their own, give themselves medication with a reminder and help to open the bottles and can’t have dementia/Alzheimer's. Once they are no longer able to do those things, NJ regulations state the resident needs to be rehomed. Great place as long as your loved one is pretty independent and you have a long term plan when they decline.
Do your research.
We moved my mom in just over one year ago. It’s been a great choice for her. The staff are all extremely nice and friendly. Nicole and Andrew have been there to answer any questions and concerns from day one. My mom enjoys the art class and bingo, but her favorite is the exercise class. It has given me a great peace of mind to know she is well cared for.
My brother recently passed away after living at Colonial Manor for five years. He arrived in bad shape but it wasn't long before he began to thrive. The staff was patient and kind to him, even in the toughest circumstances. I will always be grateful to the women who cared for him with such patience and kindness.
Its very challenging to drop your loved one off at a facility. Thankfully CM has made it easy. We are in constant communication re our mom's care and feel confident that the staff is excellent. Nicole and Andrew prioritize and personalize the care of each resident. Our mom has shared that the meals are delicious, the place is immaculate and the staff is very friendly and reliable. We are thankful our mom is being well taken care of.
The excellence of my mom's care at Colonial Manor are founded by the deeply committed owners and staff with treating my mom with dignity and respect. When placing my mom in an Assisted Living 1 1/2 years ago was one of the hardest decisions for our family. What eased the burden was finding the wonderful home that Colonial Manor created. There was just a peaceful calm about it, it was clean, and a cheerful and friendly atmosphere. The staff are the absolute best; Nicole manages the facility and is the sweetest and kindest person with a big heart for our loved ones as well as the staff. My mom loves them as well. Not only is the staff caring for those residents living there but for the their families as well. WE are all one big family at Colonial Manor. There are activities and events planned with continuous interaction with the residents. My mom's ability to communicate and walk improved by the love given by Nicole and staff, as well as the important new friendships she's built with a several residents. It is so important for our loved ones to thrive in their golden ages and Colonial Manor puts all their residents well being mind, body and spirit first not money.
During Covid-19 lockdown was the hardest, but I was always in communication with Nicole and I knew my mom was safe and healthy the entire time. Colonial Manor was continously spotless and sanitary like the first day I visited. Staff had PPE from the beginning and even residents if they chose to. Additional handmade masks were provided by few residents family members like me to help protect the staff and residents if needed. Even families sent in cards to the staff to let them know who were the true heroes during this difficult time to thank them for keeping our loved one's safe and secure. I highly recommend Colonial Manor to anyone who has difficult decision of placing a loved one in an Assisted Living. Colonial Manor makes it a home, where we are all welcome!
