Brilliant hotel with shuttle close to Newark Airport
We were flying out from Newark Airport the next day but did not want to get stranded somewhere far away from the airport in snow. We also wanted to be rested for our flight the next day. Our request for a quiet room away from lifts was acknowledged and we had a really good room with a comfortable bed and all the amenities. As we are IHG members we were allowed to check out at 2pm without any further charge. The hotel shuttle was one of the reason we booked this hotel and it was very convenient for us to get to the airport on time for our flight. Will definitely stay here again if we fly out of Newark.
Very nice hotel. Amazing customer service and very large rooms. Hotel is undergoing some renovations but hopefully these won't impact you too much. We had an upgraded room with was very well appointed but unfortunately the balcony was being updated so we could go out and enjoy the amazing sights. Restaurant and bar were nice on the top floor. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at this hotel really left me frustrated. The woman working the evening shift on October 27th (right side of the check-in desk) made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome from the start.
As an IHG Platinum member, I simply asked to have my rewards number added so the stay could count toward my status. She flat-out refused, saying the booking was “prepaid,” which I’ve never had an issue with at other hotel chain (starting with “M”). I wasn’t asking for any perks or upgrades — just acknowledgment of the stay. The dismissive tone and lack of hospitality were disappointing, especially coming from a brand I usually trust.
To make matters worse, I was assigned a room directly next to the elevators. The noise was constant and made it difficult to fall asleep, which is kind of the whole point of staying at an airport hotel before an early flight.
On a positive note, the gentleman driving the airport shuttle early the next morning (October 28th) was fantastic. He went out of his way to assist passengers, even helping a handicapped lady all the way to the wheelchair assistance area inside the terminal. His professionalism and kindness are the only reasons this isn’t a 1-star review.
Overall, disappointing experience for an IHG property. I hope management takes a closer look at front desk training and room assignments near the elevators on a non-busy Monday night.
Decent place to stay with reliable shuttle service to and from the airport. The front desk staff were friendly, smiling, & helpful. The room was clean, comfy, and had a thermostat instead of separate heating or cooling buttons, but, lacked USB charging ports.
Review:
My wife and I recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza Newark Airport, hoping for a comfortable and reliable experience as part of the Holiday Inn brand. Unfortunately, our visit didn’t quite meet those expectations.
While the location near the airport and the shuttle service were indeed convenient for us as travelers, we found the overall experience lacking. We encountered indifference from the staff when we raised a concern about a billing charge during checkout, which left us feeling a bit dismissed.
Additionally, both of us noticed that the hotel’s appearance felt quite dated and in need of refurbishment. The noise levels, both from within the hotel and the surrounding area, made it challenging for us to get a restful night’s sleep.
In short, while the Crowne Plaza Newark Airport has its conveniences, we found that it didn’t deliver the level of comfort or attentiveness we had hoped for as a couple looking for a pleasant stay. We hope that future improvements might restore some of the charm and quality that we expected.
