Golden Jade

My favorite local place to get Chinese food. I especially love their pork fried dumplings. It's also a family run business that deserves the love !

This is not our usual place. Either is the one across the street, which we ordered the day before and we’re extremely disappointed to the point that we wanted Chinese again the following night and we chose Golden Jade. Flat-out great food here and I knew it because it’s family run and everyone was friendly. You can tell they take pride in their cooking. We had fried dumplings which would great - they give you 8 and my only critique is they need more filling but the taste is great. The house lomein and house fried rice were outstanding. Fresh and not over sauced. The chicken and broccoli and the general tso chicken were what you expect in the taste department and we’re done very well. Their egg rolls were tasty. The highlight though was the boneless spareribs. So many places get this wrong - these were the best I’ve had in the area even topping my usual place. They had the right amount of glaze, weren’t tough and were made completely using rib meat. Sweet, salty, and easy to chew. This place didn’t disappoint and if it’s a battle between Golden Jade or the one across the street in the junction, Golden Jade is easily the winner.

We order from here pretty often. This quickly became our new spot when the other one moved towns.

The food used to be reliably good. But every one has bad days. Recently, though, there have been more bad days than usual. I don’t know if something changed with cooks or what, but it’s officially turned me away from this spot.

The fried dumplings the past two orders have been burnt. The most recent order they were also soft, flavorless without sauce, and loosely folded, leading to them splitting open when trying to grab one. I also found the meat quality to be questionable. There were hard pieces in the meat. I actually vomited after eating them.

With so much uncertainty in quality, we will be looking for a new local spot. It’s a massive shame as I really loved this place for a while.

The Chinese food from Golden Jade is top-notch when compared to some of the other Chinese establishments in the area. Golden Jade is actually one of the only Chinese food restaurants that I enjoy and don't have many complaints to give. First of all, their pork-fried rice is delicious. It's the perfect combination of flavor and consistency. The rest of their food is also superb. Golden Jade also has wonderful customer service, especially their delivery workers, who are so nice and pleasant to talk to. Definitely give Golden Jade a shot if you're looking for a quick bite to eat and are in the mood for Chinese takeout.
