I recently went to a weekend basketry class at Peters Valley and opted to stay on campus. It was one of the most rewarding weekends I've had in a very long time. The buildings are historic, and therefore not completely modernized, but the facilities were immaculately neat and clean. The convenience and price cannot be beat. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful, as well as the other students I met who had attended previous classes. I am completely hooked and my only issue is deciding which classes I'll attend in the future.
Pictured: the finished products of my class, the front of the building I stayed in.
If you're looking for a creative space to inspire your next product, craft, ideas or pitch, this place has an eclectic and high-quality collection of artists and their creations to engage even the most stuck creative...and help inspire you to be more creative with things around the house!
Nestled in the valley just southeast of Dingmans Falls, this place has a school, gallery and shop to help you take your creativity and craft to the next level.
And I loved the banner out front: When you support a local independent artist, "you are buying that artist more time to do something they are truly passionate about;...something that puts the life into the living."
Just visiting as part of a Delaware Water Gap stop on their driving tour. Great place to learn historical information and shop local store. Stop in and sign up for classes and see the historic buildings.
I haven't actually taken a class here yet but I know a lot of people who have (including my sister) and everyone loves it so much that they literally talk about how much they can't wait to return to Peter's Valley as they're leaving. Hoping I can take a course in the near future but until then enjoy these photos from my short visit with my sister and her fellow artist friends.
Peter's Valley School of Craft is one of those special places that adds up to more than the sum of its parts. Set in the beautiful Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, the school offers crafts education from nationally-known craftspeople (including yours truly). It is a place to get away from the grind of everyday life and focus on creativity and learning new skills.
