What an experience. The facility, lounge area, the kind and friendly staff, administration, nurses and physicians, all the best of the best! Wish I had heard of Procure Proton Therapy for a family member who had a nasal carcinoma, and was treated with photon therapy elsewhere and had a hard recovery. Will refer anyone I know that needs treatment for tumorous cancers to proton therapy at Procure. Visit this facility first during your search for treatments, you won't be disappointed.
Dr HenryTsai is not only very highly qualified but he has a fabulous bedside manner and explains everything in detail. Having been a nurse in the past and having 30 years working in big Pharma, I have worked with many physicians and many principal investigators in clinical trials, so forth and so on. My standards are high and I feel blessed to have found Dr. Tsai. I highly recommend him.
You walk into what resembles a country club. You sit down. Everyone’s friendly and content. Those I spoke with had all been referred to ProCure Proton Therapy Center. I was not. My brother mentioned the idea of proton beam therapy for my undiagnosed prostate cancer 5 years ago, but it seemed out of the mainstream. When I was diagnosed early this year, I looked toward focal therapy. Focal therapy was ruled out, however, by the Decipher test result --- high risk of aggressive cancer. PSMA-PET showed no metastasis outside the prostate. It was recommended that I either undergo surgery, or radiation with ADT. I did not like either alternative. So, I considered several radiation clinical trials without ADT. From the clinical trial writeups and what I knew of my condition, I wanted treatment of, in addition to my prostate, my seminal vesicle and pelvic lymph nodes. Also, as I looked online, I was reminded of proton beam therapy. One of the clinical trials was at ProCure, but pelvic lymph node treatment would be disqualifying. ProCure, as I found out, has a wealth of experience with proton beam treatment, with prostate, and with inserting a biodegradable ultramodern spacer internally to protect the rectum from radiation side effects. Based on my medical history, ProCure advised me to take ADT, and my treatment would include pelvic lymph nodes as well as my prostate and seminal vesicle as a regular patient outside the clinical trial. My insurance was in-network. Rather than x-ray radiation, I received proton radiation, mainly because it is just as effective and it can be more precisely delivered, with a steep falloff beyond the target and in less deposition on the way to the target, all resulting in fewer side effects in surrounding body organs. My 28 daily proton beam treatments concluded a week and a half ago. The radiation gave me a few minor urinary side effects – urgency, frequency, hesitancy. I feel great. The few, now gone or nearly unnoticeable, side effects of my treatment are expected to be temporary. I almost can’t believe my fortune at having gone to ProCure. And hey bro, I owe ya.
My referral for radiation therapy at Procure followed radical neck surgery for oral cancer so I was fearful of side effects from surgery and radiation in succession. I was impressed by the education and regular monitoring buy the staff at all clinical levels and the help managing side effects. I am a retired physician and appreciate the organization of treatment sessions and coordination with nursing and nutritional professionals. The physicians were available and responsive when I had symptoms, and involved me in regular planning sessions. The facility is accessible and attractive, and supportive personnel constantly available.
During, after and now for my present treatment. The doctors and nurses of ProCure have been OUTSTANDING. They are extremely supportive and knowledgeable of the needs and concerns of their patients. Always willing to answer questions and provide the support required during a difficult time. Please keep up the GREAT work.
