I was feeling scared about taking a group Pilates class worried I might hurt myself. I’ve been dealing with chronic lower back pain for 20 years now, and I have some fears about triggering new back pain. Lori reached out to me via text from the studio and we spoke about what I was dealing with. She encouraged me to attend her class and she promised she would make sure to look after me. Lori has been an angel, truly! She always checks in on me for each exercise and is laser focused on working with me to steer clear of exercises that trigger my pain, and will often give me modifications or different exercises altogether. I started out doing just half of a spring for all the exercises and felt so relieved that the instructors weren’t pressuring me to push myself to go harder, and I’ve just been going at my own pace. I’m really enjoying the classes, and everyone else seems to be enjoying them as well! Happy to report I’m pain free 10 classes in.
Amazing Pilates studio! I’ve tried a lot of studios in Monmouth County and nowhere compares. I know the video is controversial but I think because of the video, this allows the instructors to go around and really check and correct everyone’s form. They are so encouraging and put the quality of movement above everything!
The place is beautiful, welcoming, and clean. As a Pilates instructor, I wasn't sure about the video thing, and there were moments {very few and I just stopped to look for a sec) my neck didn't like looking at the video, but I loved the idea of freeing up the instructor to help people with form. The 2 instructors, Lori and Ina,I have had were great. I prefer a more dynamic, athletic style but they encourage the use of heavier springs which I really liked. I also really liked the idea of having different spring setting ranges for men and women. Bob, at the front desk is very helpful and friendly. The place is wonderful.
The weirdest Pilates class ever. First off, it’s so loud in there. We have this video telling us to do stuff, the instructor talking over the video then some 90s music in the background. Like sure let me listen to 3 things at once while trying to do reformer Pilates. The fact that we have to pay $30 for a 30 min introductory class that starts off with us watching a 15 min video that reminds me of high school gym class is absurd. The studio was pretty clean but I think they need more time in between the actual classes to give the machine and items an actual clean down instead of the person before me who took a wipe for .01 seconds to clean the machine.
The bathroom is in the back of the facility so if you have to pew before or during a class, you have to walk through the entire studio in the middle of a class.
That was NOT worth the $.
Very much needed Pilates in Long Branch! I did the trial then signed up 50 classes bc I liked it so much! New and clean equipment. The format with the screens is easy to follow and the workouts are challenging enough for me, but can be adjusted for any level. Different daily routines hit all the body parts. The instructors keep you in check with proper form. Parking was easy. So happy they are here! I love the results I get with Pilates!!
