I literally grew up on their food. I absolutely love this family and absolutely love their food. I have not had it in years since moving to Florida and wish it could get shipped. Till this day, I have never had a chili cheese hotdog as good as theirs and frankly all of their food I have tried. My parents would bring us here at least after every church service and more if we could con them into it 😂 I don't know if y'all remember me. I am the youngest daughter of the Matos family. I saw a video with someone with a chili cheese dogs and I instantly thought of this place and looked it up to see if y'all were still open and it brought tears to my eyes to see that they never let go of this gem. I can't recommend this place more. There aren't enough stars to give to this wonderful family and their amazing food.

Amazing food and top-notch service! I had a fantastic experience at Tommy’s Hotdog. The food was absolutely delicious — I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and cheese fries and my Husband had Italian hotdog it was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The owner was friendly, attentive, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the meal. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back.

Unique place but well worth it. 2x chili cheese dogs and cheese fries with a root beer to wash them down. Excellent food. Chili was unbelievably good; i’d go back just for the chili. I plan on making some more stops and trying different things.

The hubby and I tried Tommy’s in Carteret this afternoon. Homemade chili, no beans. Nice, smooth bit of heat. It was good. I believe they are using a Sabrett hot dog. The onion rings were EXCELLENT! Everything was fresh and very tasty. This family has been selling hot dogs in the Carteret and Rahway area since the very early 1960’s. Jimmy who is the son of the original owner, Tommy was very friendly. He couldn’t have been happier to explain his menu offerings to us, and partake in some friendly conversation. Four hot dogs with two toppings on each, an order of onion rings, and a Diet Coke was $19. There are a couple of outdoor tables to sit at, or a no frills trailer to sit in. It’s not a fancy place, but we weren’t there for fancy. We were there for some good dawgs, and we got them. We will definitely be back for more, and to try the freshly made burgers and cheesesteaks.😋
