We had an awesome experience with Amanda! Her experience and compassion were paramount in ensuring our pregnancy and birth journeys went smoothly and as planned.
From the early days of pregnancy she helped us come up with a plan and prepare ourselves for what was ahead. Along the way she was our personalized lifeline — always immediately responsive with advice, and second opinions when something from a doctor visit raised further questions or uncertainty.
In the days leading up to birth, Amanda was frequently checking in and making sure things were progressing as needed. In the delivery room she was focused on every little detail and suggested things that kept things progressing. In the end our birth went according to plan and we are so grateful for Amanda’s involvement in helping us get there!
If you’re on the fence about whether or not to work with Amanda, just do it! You will be so happy that you did.
I highly recommend Amanda as a birth doula! Not only is she a kind and capable person, but her extensive experience and knowledge made all the difference in our labor and delivery experience. She is extremely reliable and dedicated, providing my spouse and me with a wide variety of tools and approaches both before and during labor, which helped facilitate and support the process we wanted. She was also very responsive and helpful in the weeks leading up to and after the birth, answering our many questions and worries, which allowed us to focus on our birth process and new baby. She is a wonderful resource for a birth journey.
If you are here wondering if you need a doula, the answer is YES. I don’t know how I would have made it through my baby’s birthing two years ago without Amanda. She was instrumental in helping me to manage the fear, stress, and pains of labor, both at my house and at the hospital. She worked with my husband as a team to ensure that my delivery at Vassar was smooth and comfortable. And while I had to adjust at the last minute—I had hoped not to have to medicate—my long laboring process exhausted me. Amanda helped walk me and my husband through my options. I successfully delivered my baby a few short hours later. I don’t know how anyone has a baby without a doula by her side. And Amanda is one of the best—the right blend of medical and holistic.
