Lived within walking distance my whole life and never tried this place. Took a walk last night to pickup dinner. Will be back for sure, food tasted great and felt good supporting a local neighborhood business.
"Crisp, mostly thin crust, generous cheese and sauce".
Hi, like many, grew up eating delicious pizza way back when it was in the shopping center on Forest avenue.
Although this doesn't feel the same as what I remember, It definitely has some redeeming features that's worth talking about.
First off I found the service to be exceptional. he really tried to tell her my pizza to my request, amd in fact, maden me a really good pie.
looking at the specifics...
The crust was bery nicely crisp. Had a good crunch without being stiff and cardboard like - something not wo common to find on L.I. pizza.
The sauce was mild flavor and tomatoey. I liked it but I would request extra sauce simce mild flavor, which my pie had, and the amount turned out just right.
I guess the one thing that wasn't quite the style I liked is the cheese itself.
The cheese seemed like good quality whole-milk mozzarella—very oily, which I usually take as a sign of whole-milk quality—but it wasn’t stretchy (r.g
it didn't have that "pull").
It reminded me of kosher pizza cheese, which often lacks that classic pull due to differences in how it’s made, so I figure this was just a different style of mozzarella that’s still good but not exactly what I prefer.
overall, If you're looking for a pizza with the classic stringy pole cheese, such as those made with Grande brand mozzarella, this doesn't seem to be that.
If You are good with a cheese that I believe is made from good quality whole milk mozzarella l, but doesn't have that "pull", then this was an excellent pie je made me, with generous cheese, crisp crust and good sauce. 🙂
They're trying. I think it's really hard in Glen Cove to not have primo pizza using quality ingredients.... and I'm sure keeping prices in line given that can be very difficult. They seem like really nice folks so I'm rooting for them! 3 star pizza, soggy dough, sweet sauce, cheese not tasty. 4 stars otherwise. Close to home so I hope they do better!
My family ate at Delicious when I was a kid, when it was on Forest Avenue. They moved to another spot on Forest and they were just as good. Finally they moved to a tiny hole in the wall on Landing, but the Italian family was still making the pizza, and it was still the best in Glen Cove. Finally, the Italian family retired from making the food, leaving the mexican help to make it, and the quality nosedived. But recently a sign "Under New management" has gone up, and the manager/chef seems to take things seriously, and the pizza is back to New York Slice quality. It is not overwhelmingly salty, like Lorenzo's on Glen Street, in fact it's actually Delicious, good amount of cheese and sauce, and the crust is classic foldable style. I am glad to have Delicious Pizza back again.
