Dina is very sweet and talented with alterations, but she is not up to the management aspects of the business. She had done some excellent alterations for me about 18 months ago so I came back with a dress I had bought online that needed four things done: the collar altered into a scoop neck from a higher, folded-over collar, the length shortened, the sleeves shortened, and a tuck put in under the sleeves at the bust. I needed it for an event on 4/30 and I brought it in between five and six weeks in advance. She said it would be done on 4/4. I called after 4/4 and she said she had tried to reach me (she hadn't) to ask if I wanted a V neck or a rounded scoop neck. She does not seem to take notes on what has to be done. I reminded her that I wanted a rounded scoop neck and she said she would do it the next week. I waited over a week and called her again and she said she had not done it yet but would do it the following week and it would be ready that Thursday. The timing was getting tight and I asked her if she thought there was any chance it wouldn't be done and she said no. I went there that Thursday (less than a week before the event) and the hem was done perfectly, the scoop neck was higher than we had discussed but it was okay, she totally forgot the sleeves (which she did right away in 10 minutes), but she said she was not going to do the part under the arms because it did not work to do it. She is very elderly and I was polite but I asked why she did not tell me that on the times that we had spoken. She did not answer. I did not have time to bring it elsewhere so I could not wear it, I had to wear another dress, because it looked weird with the puffy fabric under the arms. I tried wearing it with a padded camisole and that didn't help, the extra fabric was more under the arms. I would not use her again unless there was no due date and it was just something simple like a hem.
Dina is awesome! She's professional, to the point, and does amazing work. We had her restore my grandmother's wedding dress and turn it into a tea length dress for my rehearsal dinner. The dress has sat in a plastic bag (NOT preserved) in a basement for 30 years, she managed to bring life back into the piece.
Dina is amazing! I needed a last minute/day of alteration and she helped me no problem! She did a great job hemming my dress and is so sweet.
This is probably the best seamstress I’ve ever been to, Dina is a sweet old lady and I was very impressed by her work. She has been doing her work for over 50+ years. I don’t know how people are leaving a bad review. She does her best and gives her advise so Danielle and Alexandra if you don’t have anything nice to say about the amazing Dina and her work think again you just want to steal her hard work because you have nothing better to do. I have been going to her for over 10+ years. You have no idea what you’re talking about. She has proved herself over and over again to everyone, she has so many of her “grandchildren” and feels so close to them especially with my 4 kids. I am so grateful for her being in my life, I would write more but my hand is already tired because if I keep on going it will fall off
I went to Dina for my wedding dress alterations. Dina is a sweet lady to work with, and she does a great job with simple alterations. She also did a nice job taking the length of my dress up a few inches and restitching the lace.
However with everything else, I wasn't thrilled with the process or result. She is getting older and is not too mobile, and at the end my dress was still too big and I feel like it has to do with her not having the strength/being able to take in the torso. She also needs an assistant- my friend had to hold the dress up AND pin for her because Dina was sitting the whole time.
She also did not seem to want to take my dress in in or bustle my dress because it was "too long" (it wasn't unusually long) and I wanted a specific bustle that she disagreed with (having 3 buttons), and when she showed us the bustle she wanted to do, it was really poofy and looked messy. I wanted to be able to dance in my dress but the way she wanted it was for my to hold my train while dancing. I'm not sure why- it seemed like she was very traditional. Then on my wedding day the bustle she put in kept falling out before we even got to dancing.
The floor was also dirty so we had to lint roll my dress after because it had dirt/strings on it from her dragging it on the floor.
