When I first moved to the area as a purple belt, I planned on checking out several other gyms before deciding where I would continue training. After one class with Aaron, the head coach, I didn't bother going anywhere else. I have been at this gym for five years now, and I am proud to say that I received my brown belt from Aaron Harris. This is the only place in the Hudson Valley where you can get world class instruction and high-level talent in the room on any given night. This gym changed my life for the better, and I am honored to be a part of the community here.
I wish I had the words to describe the impact this place has had on my life. I went to school in SUNY New Paltz, and for the entirety of my college experience, this place was my safe haven. There’s no politics or agendas or ideas that matter on the mats, only what works and what doesn’t. This gym fundamentally changed my life and made me a better, more confident, and more balanced person. The coaching staff are the best in the world at what they do and teach, and if you’ve ever been curious to try a fun way to get in shape or learn an awesome martial art, this gym is the best gym you will find.
My 18-year-old son, a complete beginner, joined Gambit Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai, and I'm incredibly impressed with his progress. The instructors have been fantastic at working with his skill level, building his confidence, and teaching him valuable self-defense techniques. He's fitter, more focused, and more confident than ever before. Highly recommend Gambit, especially for those starting their martial arts journey later in life.
Going through small town America, I did not have much hope for a good roll. Yet I found in Gambit Submission Fighting a great mat, great rolls, and great dudes. The moment the owner found out I was only passing through he waived his daily fee and offered me a spot in the class.
I recommend you swing by if you have the chance 😊
Awesome area to train, knowledgable instructors, conducive environment to learn; and build friendships and team support that carry over to tournaments, just overall worthwhile place to practice and improve your grappling.
