Handshakes Bar & Grill

I’ve been to this place many times over the span of 5-6 years. I’m really beginning to lose the desire to come back. The food is decent but the service from the waiters is consistently bad. As someone who’s worked as a waiter and bartender, the waiters are simply not good at what they are doing. I’ve noticed a couple who have worked there a while and have not gotten better, very inefficient with time. An example of this is when we asked for our check to the waiter, instead of getting our check, he walks away and starts cleaning a table. Experienced and more skillful waiters/waitresses would have given us our check right away, then cleaned the table while we figured out how we were paying our check. There are quite literally only two waiters/waitresses that are good at what they are doing there, so it isn’t everybody. Another example of the bad service was last week. A waiter who I will not name was having a full blown conversation with a table, while we were waiting to have our drinks ordered. Another waiter saw and said “hey (waiters name), have you taken them?” And he lied and said yes. It wasn’t busy at all at the time, I’m okay with him talking with the table as long as he takes time to take care of us. We were the only two tables in the restaurant at the time. One minor thing, the plates that are used need changing. I could not cut through my steak without the plate spinning on me.

I am 7 weeks pregnant. My husband and I came here to spend time with friends, and since I wasn’t planning to stay long, I ordered a burger to go. The food is usually very good here, which is why this was especially disappointing. The order took over an hour, and when I opened it, the burger was raw in the center

This is not a matter of preference — serving undercooked ground beef is a serious food safety concern, especially for pregnant customers

Absolutely stunning burger. Ordered the Handshakes burger. Fries were cooked just right, slaw had the perfect texture and taste, chili was phenomenal, onion rings were amazing. I'll will 100% be back for more. What an absolute gem of a place

Good and tasty food, good service, decent beer selection. We'll be back for sure.
