Island Wide Palm Trees

If anyone from Ohio is considering adding a palm tree to their landscape,first, know it is possible and second, contact Kevin at Island Wide Palms. We have had our windmill palm for many years however it outgrew it's winter shelter. I came across the Island Wide Palm site and contacted Kevin. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. We bought a shelter from him. It was easy to assemble (and disassemble) and our palm survived another winter.

I ordered the 8 foot Palm Tree kit to winterize my 5 foot palm in my backyard a year ago. I live in Halifax MA which is a zone 5B/6A location depending on the winter. I could not be more happy with the kit as it accommodated my small tree quite well. I was leery about the white fabric being durable and warm enough and I was completely wrong about that. The point of protecting your windmill palm in the winter is about precipitation, temperature is secondary. With all my C9 Christmas lights on when it was really cold my inside air temperature hovered around 20 degrees when the air outside was ten or less. It was only this way a few times but my tree was fine. I unwrapped everything in early April and my tree never looked healthier! You don't even need the inside blanket, the external cloth does everything it needs to because it also allows the tree to breathe during dormancy. The kit was a bit pricey but worth every penny!

When I contacted Kevin over a year ago about getting a windmill palm he was great to talk with. He has a wealth of knowledge
and has no problem sharing it. This year I was ready to invest in 7 foot windmill palms and getting them from Kevin was the only place I would ever go. His trees are hearty and beautiful. Kevin answered all of my questions and made sure I had everything I needed to plant them successfully. John delivered the trees and he was great as well. They both deserve more than five stars. I will be a returning customer....

Update- trees were wrapped fall 2021- just unwrapped 3/22- trees look great- owner was responsive and employess did a great job unwrapping! Buying another palm from Island Palm so happy with the company! Thanks all! Update summer 2022- 1 7 ft Windmill palm failed due to fungus. Company stood behind promise to replace if did not survive wrapping- 8 ft Windmill planted promptly. Would not hesitate to purchase from Island Palm again!
