We bought our house, in Brewster, in 1996, we have been eating at Jaipore since then.
During Covid we got takeout several times a month because we wanted to support the restaurant.
The atmosphere is very relaxed, the dining room has many table options, the food is ALWAYS TOP NOTCH for real Indian cuisine.
When we get take out, there is usually enough food for two or three meals.
Prices are good, portion sizes bug enough to give you lunch the next day, and there is always something on the menu you will happily eat many times - a favorite of ours is the Butter Chicken and the Mango Chicken, a new favorite, as of last night, is the Lamb Butter Curry Masala.
Sunday lunch buffet was delicious and full of variety. Lots of interesting dishes that you don't get at just any Indian buffet especially in the appetizer section. And the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I recommend a reservation if you go for the lunch buffet as it was pretty busy.
We’ve wanted to try out Jaipore for a while, as it’s pretty close to Danbury! Getting there was easy and there’s ample parking for a Saturday night. The ambience is really nice inside! I ordered the rogan josh (comes with rice) which was super flavorful, and the lamb was well-cooked. It definitely is a big portion despite coming in a small container: save some for the next day! Would come again with a bigger group and try the cocktails. Thanks to the kind staff who showed professionalism and friendliness!
I used to really love this place and ordered from it at least once a week (sometimes more). And it’s just really gone down hill - things are either kind of bland (even if you request them spicier), oddly sweet, or have an artificial smoke flavor to them. Everything is oily, to the point where there are just pools of oil on top of the food when it arrives. Maybe I keep catching them on a bad night but it’s been often enough that the food hasn’t been good that I don’t think I’ll eat here again. People who work there are very nice and try to be accommodating but I think my Jaipore Era is at an end.
Great family-owned Indian restaurant. Very nice sit-down a la carte restaurant. Delicious meals, great service, good ambience. You will not be disappointed if you enjoy Indian food. I myself was not a very experienced connoisseur of Indian food. However, I went twice during two holiday buffets and was able to taste a variety of foods to get a feel of what I liked. Jaipore does these buffets on major holidays, such as New Year, Mother’s Day, etc. they also do this on Sundays from noon to 3 pm and on the first full Sunday of every month. The rest of the time it’s sit-down dinners. Obviously, go for the staples, such as Chicken Tikka Masala, chicken tandoori, get the naan bread, for beer try the Taj Mahal. There are many other dishes, such as malai kofta which is a favorite, lamb madras and more. You also have to try the samosas. They have naan, which we usually get regular, but they also have a variety of flavored naan, such as onion, cheese-topped, etc. There is a varied menu. I edited my post and added pictures. I will definitely go back again and again. Very nice family-owned restaurant and you will not be disappointed.
