This is truly a beautiful pwith. The access from the the Taconic and a few other roads in the area. They have plenty of picnic areas, event areas, play grounds, and walking trails. We attended an event for veterans that featured catered food and music. It was well put together and a beautiful area to have it in
Came here to geocache a month ago and this place just feels... Off
4/6 of the basketball hoops have had the hoop part removed, buildings that appear in rough shape, hiking trails that bring you to one parking lot to another. Speaking of parking lots there are a lot of them, mostly empty too. The trailheads all seem split apart from each other and whoever placed the geocaches here did so in a way that has no flow to it navigation wise. This place just looks like it has nothing to do or see.
I can't speak for the golf, maybe this place is great for golf. And maybe it's not bad for organizing huge events. As for anything else it feels kinda deserted.
Ps; There was a guy who kept hanging around somewhere I stopped to look around for a geocache and was watching me. Very creepy :/
Excellent place to walk, hike, have a picnic, or rent a gazebo for an event. There's pickleball, playground for the littles and a golf course.
Definitely recommend this place.
James Baird Golf Course is a very good course and well maintained. $32 for 9 holes and a cart. Mostly straight fairways and level greens. They have a great restaurant with a bar. The staff is friendly and the food is very good. You can eat inside A/C; in a covered patio with fans or outside on the terrace with umbrellas. You have to reserve online and pay via credit/debit card (no cash).
Very nice park. I took my dog on some of the trails were well maintained. They were pretty extensive with varying elevation which made it fun. There's also a picnic area and playground if you have kids. Dogs are not allowed in that area of the park, but are allowed elsewhere. Excited to go back to explore more of the park.
