My father is currently a resident here for short term rehabilitation due to suffering 2 strokes last summer and losing all left side function. He's been here since August and he's making great progress thanks to the team at LISVH. He has regained some arm/hand function and is trying to walk with the therapist assistance. One of the aides in his unit(Maria) is my absolute favorite, she goes above and beyond to help my father and it doesn't go unnoticed because being in this setting was a HUGE adjustment for him and I whole heartedly appreciate the compassion he's been shown over the past 5 months.
Taking time to draft this review is not only my absolute pleasure, but, a moral obligation, the least I can do.
My parents have been in many Healthcare & Long-term care facilities over 20 years - this by far exceeds all of them. This establishment on every level is phenomenal. I personally feel it starts from the top; most employees are always happy & smiling, attentive to resident's needs and this facility happens to be cleaner than most homes.
In summation, thank you so much for all you do for the Veterans, my dad and a friend living there, this is how Veterans should be treated.........consistency on every level, keep up the great work!!!
My Dad was admitted to LISVH at the end of September. It was a very difficult decision to make. However safety was our main concern. I was out of town for the admission, but I was super impressed how many calls I received from different disciplines. One of my sisters was with him. So far it has been amazing. Everyone is so caring. The nurses so attentive and the nursing assistants very available. Everything is so clean and everyone so friendly - From admissions, the business office and up and down the chain of command. What a wonderful facility to honor the men and women who served our Country. 🇺🇸
The Long Island State Veterans Home is truly a remarkable place that shows how much our veterans are valued and cared for. The first thing you notice is the beautiful, well-kept grounds—lush lawns, peaceful walkways, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that instantly makes visitors feel at ease. It’s clear the staff takes pride in keeping the entire property clean and inviting, which creates a comforting environment for residents and their families.
I recently attended John Stapleton’s 100th birthday party here, and it was absolutely wonderful. The team went above and beyond to make the celebration special, from the decorations to the thoughtful attention they gave to John and every guest. You could feel the love and respect they have for the veterans in every detail of the event.
Most importantly, the care for the residents is exceptional. The nurses, aides, and support staff treat each veteran with dignity, compassion, and genuine kindness. It’s not just about providing medical care—it’s about creating a community where our heroes feel honored and appreciated every day.
If you are looking for a place where veterans receive top-notch care in a beautiful, family-friendly setting, the Long Island State Veterans Home is second to none. They provide an environment that celebrates service and shows true gratitude, making it a place I would recommend without hesitation.
My mother was recently transferred to the Long Island State Veterans Home from another facility. I want to commend the entire staff on unit 2D and everyone else who has been involved in my mother‘s care. She has received exceptional care starting with the admission process down to every last detail of her care. Nothing has been overlooked as far as any of her needs or wants. The facility itself is immaculate and odor free. I would highly recommend this facility for your loved ones as I don’t believe they would receive this kind of care/treatment in any other facility. I can leave at night knowing my mother is safe and well cared for having all her needs met, which is so important at this difficult time of transition for both her and her family.
