I had high hopes for Place des Fêtes but I was pretty disappointed, especially for all the high reviews it received. For the price they’re charging here, you either have to increase the portion size or really knock the customers socks off. Some of the dishes were comically small, I get this is tapas but come on. My favorite dish was the sardine toast but that’s the only thing that was good. The pasta tasted like something you’d make at home and the cod was lukewarm, not appealing at all. The freshness of the ingredients was spot on, you can definitely taste the quality but it’s the actual delivery that flopped. I do have to shout out to our waiter who was great and offered some solid suggestions. There are some great restaurants in Brooklyn, especially in this area but PDF is not one of them.
The sardines toast was definitely the highlight for me! But the maitako mushroom with black garlic sauce & corn with eel bonito were delightful.
Super cute place inside, very cozy and nice bar seating area. All the staffs were super helpful, attentive and sweet.
Perfect date spot, light not too dim, portions are on the smaller end and pretty vibey.
Sleek and bustling spot. The swordfish, the pasta and the daily special mushrooms were very memorable, although really everything was good. Great wine choices and solid service too. A strong recommend for a weekend outing for groups of 2-4.
One of my favorite wine bars/restaurant! Excellent rotating menu and really fun cozy environment with an open kitchen, knowledgeable staff. The mussel starter with green sauce and the lamb tartare were favorites. Everything was excellently prepared, no notes
Had a really great experience here end-to-end. We came for my boyfriend’s birthday and I really appreciated that they wished him happy birthday on the walk in, had a card at our seat at the bar and poured us glasses of champagne as we sat down. It made the dinner feel very special before we even made it to the food.
The food was delicious! Every sauce and broth was so unique and well curated. Each dish got better and better with each bite. I know I’ll be craving another visit very soon.
My personal faves from the night were the sardine toast (I called it a sushi toast) and the mafaldine which had notes of almost a seaweed like flavor, but everything was great. My only note was with the asparagus and salt cod dish the flavor of the asparagus drowned out the cod - I appreciated the cod and the ramp more on their own or with the sourdough. Definitely get the sourdough to sop up any and all of the leftover sauces. They’re that good
