The moment I stepped into this healing space I softened. It wasn't even a visit for me, I was just driving someone else to treatment. But the energy in the space caught me off guard and I began to notice how far I'd been from healing, just coasting on the bare minimum and repressing the rest. From the welcome, to the rushing creek behind the building, to the lush greenery and gleaming hard wood floors, the high level of care and intention everywhere was a call in - maybe I deserve at least this level of care? I started out seeing Emily in a panic at the end of the semester when I was incapacitated with back strain, she got me back in the swing of things withing weeks, but within six months I was back with a double breast cancer diagnosis and facing years of treatment. Being a regular patient at VSA through the whole of this healing journey has been a touchstone. The treatments sauna and herbs plus Emily's expert understanding of the multiple dimensions of my illness have all not only been essential parts of my care team, most recently supporting my surgical scars to heal and supporting the lymphatic drainage that is keeping lymphodema at bay, it has midwifed my whole new level of expectation of my own needs, self-care, life style, and wellness. I trust Emily to think with the benefits and consequences of my reliance on western medicine and help me make the most of this rough time. So grateful for the ways shes coached me to mitigate the negative side effects of it all. The integration of the Chinese, Chiropractic and Reike are next level. So glad she's right in town!
