Truly exceptional care – for both pets and people. We couldn’t be more grateful for the team at VCA Referral & Emergency Center of Westbury. From start to finish, everyone we interacted with treated us — and our cat — with genuine care and respect.
The doctors took the time to patiently explain every detail of our cat’s situation, answering all our questions without ever making us feel rushed. Even after our appointment, when we thought of another question and mentioned it to the receptionist, the doctor personally came out just minutes later to speak with us again. That level of responsiveness is rare and so appreciated. Before surgery, they let us go back and say hello to our cat, which meant the world to us. While we were there, we were impressed by how clean and organized the back area was, and how calm all the animals seemed — a real testament to the quality of care they receive. The entire facility was spotless, including the lobby and even the bathrooms. The reception team answered the phone right away every time we called, never rushing us off, always kind and attentive. And small touches — like free snacks in the lobby — made us feel cared for too. The doctors were also incredibly sensitive to pricing, openly discussing lower-cost options without us even having to ask. It was clear they truly wanted what was best for both our pet and our family. We left feeling that our cat was treated like a precious baby, and we were treated like humans — not just another case. The whole place feels exceptionally well run, with every staff member genuinely invested in helping. Highly, highly recommend this clinic. They’ve earned our trust completely.
I cannot recommend Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center of Westbury highly enough for the exceptional care they provided to my 14-year-old cat, Angie. She underwent Radioactive Iodine (I-131) therapy to treat her hyperthyroidism, a condition that was previously managed with medications that caused brutal side effects, including daily vomiting. The I-131 treatment was a game-changer—it completely cured her hyperthyroidism, and she no longer requires any medication. The process involved a 3-4 day hospital stay, during which the staff called me daily with updates on Angie’s progress, reassuring me that she was receiving plenty of love and attention. The doctor, lab technician, and entire staff were incredibly informative, thorough, and compassionate throughout the process. Their expertise and care have likely given Angie another 5+ years to live happily with our family. Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center of Westbury did an absolutely fantastic job, and I’m beyond grateful for their dedication and professionalism. Also, the therapy for my cat wasn't as much as I thought it would have been, especially since Angie had to stay there for numerous days. They actually gave me a $92 refund which is a testament of their honesty and integrity.
My dog Winston had such an exciting day little hike, then went swimming … then by 8pm he was whining, uncomfortable, not able to sit and not wagging his tail. We took him to an emergency vet & I’m so happy I decided to go to VCA Westbury. The staff was super friendly right from the start! Front desk was super helpful, the vet tech as well. Winston was seen by Dr George Kartsonas DVM, he did a thorough evaluation & turns out Winston had symptoms of ‘swimmers tail’. I have never heard of such a thing but Dr Kartsonas explained everything to us and prescribed some anti inflammatory & pain relief meds. 2 days after our visit the office reached out thru text which meant a lot to us! My dog is back to his happy self after days of rest and meds, tail wagging and all! I can’t thank Dr Kartsonas and the entire VCA staff for such kindness and taking good care of our winsty ❤️
Hope we don’t have any other doggie emergencies but if we do, we will return to VCA Westbury! Highly recommend!!
