(Been here twice, last visit a month ago)
If you don't care about there being much to look at and just like being in the woods, Wonder Lake is serviceable. I84 is very audible from the parking lot until you fully get over the initial and surprisingly grueling hill. The lake itself is.... A lake 🤷♂️ Lots of vegetation coverage in the summer.
No restrooms either so, yeah. Definitely the most bare bones state park I've been to, but not the worst.
Some of the plant life is cool. Lots of aster
Smaller park, with a little over 1,000 acres, Wonder Lakes offers about 8 miles of very well marked and nice view of Wonder Lake and Laurel Pond. Quiet, never crowded and a nice place to park are just icing on the cake...
Love how much they used nature for steps, etc. easy to navigate trails. Free parking, which I’m finding is a plus right now. On the welcome sign is the QR code for the trail mail in the Avenza app. I’ve used it in multiple parks and it’s been very helpful.
Such a beautiful park, went there during peak tick season so by the time we finished the trail we were covered in ticks since we forgot to bring the tick spray. Besides that it was a great hike, it was a bit rocky so be careful. Moderate hike but nothing crazy.
Moderately challenging hike with several ramifications for different scenery. Trails somewhat overgrown during this review. No time to reach the lake during this visit, but feeder streams were seen. Trailways marked with signage in good repair. Unpaved parking lot for around seven cars.
