Dr. Z and the whole team have been a blessing. We made the switch to their office in November 2025 during the holidays and were accommodated with their appointment efficiency, reasonable pricing, and what seams like always open hours.

Dr. Gano is our favorite doctor at this establishment. She is extremely knowledgeable and goes above and beyond with our dogs. She has cured our dogs every ailment and always makes time for us. One of our dogs doesn’t make it easy as he’s very scared of the vet, so Dr. Gano is great with tough dogs too! Highly recommend her!

Wonderful! Truly care about your dogs. In the day and age of corporate veterinary practices, Black River vet led by Dr. Tack is a refreshing change of peace where they truly care for your animals rather than just the corporate bottom line they practice good medicine not just for profit medicine.

Just have to say how wonderful black river vet in Chester is. I have had multiple emergencies with my senior dogs and they have ALWAYS gone above and beyond. The doctors there truly care about the animals and are not treated as price tags. The office staff is friendly and super efficient. The place is always beautifully kept and clean. We just had an emergency with our senior dog last night and they once again did an amazing job start to finish. If you’re looking for a vet or trying a new place I would definitely recommend.

We have been very fortunate to be a customer here since our prior vet retired. (A neighbor very kindly made an introduction)
Dr Tack and his entire staff are excellent / knowledgeable / empathetic providers.
Our little white Hav/Maltese mix (Oscar) is a sometimes patient and each visit is always stress-free (for both of us !), prompt and pleasant.
Here's "conehead the barbarian" after treatment for an infected paw pad...all healed now :)
