Cambria Hotel West Orange

I had the pleasure of staying at the Cambria Hotel in West Orange, New Jersey and I was pleasantly surprised with both the room and amenities. The staff provided great customer service and I loved the boutique-y atmosphere. The room was large and I loved the mirror in the bathroom. Not because it helped me go from a "6" to a solid '7" in the looks department (just kidding), but because of its size and you can adjust the lighting around the border (very cool). But by far, my favorite aspect of the room was the fact that the air filter on the AC/Heating unit was clean.

I know that sounds crazy, but I've traveled quite a bit over the years and I'd say that 90% of the hotels/motels I've stayed at have had AC/Heating units/filters that haven''t been cleaned in years. The build up of dust, mold, food particulate and did I mention MOLD, is not only disgusting, but unhealthy as well.

I got really sick during one particular trip and having asthma & sinus issues, I'm particularly sensitive to dust and mold. I had the sneaking suspicion that there was mold in the room and my detective work took me to the AC/Heating unit, which looked like a science experiment gone awry.

Anyway, I fully endorse the Cambria Hotel in West Orange!

I have no idea how this hotel has such a low rating. The food is well priced and absolutely delicious. Waiting staff was professional and wonderful. The rooms were perfect. The parking was excellent. It was next to shopping and dining and starbucks, right off the hoghway... what more could you want? They always have makeup wipes and a special makeup towel. Rooms were quiet and easy to get to from the elevator. The shower is perfect for ADA, because it isn't a slip hazard, and its a walk in shower with awesome water pressure and shampoo, conditioner, and body wash pumps. No bars though. Lots of room. Gorgeous rooms. GORGEOUS! Wonderful AC/heating, and they have plenty of room for luggage and other items. We had 2 rooms, one king size and one with 2 queens, and both rooms were perfect.

We were only there for an overnight stay and we were really surprised at the size of our "suite" , two bedrooms a sitting area, full bath and a kitchenette of sorts. The linens were clean and we had plenty of towels but the room itself wasn't as clean as it should be. The several staff members we met were kind and attentive. Unfortunately we weren't there long enough to use the indoor pool but it looked very inviting. Perfect for overnight but I can't imagine staying much longer.
