FH is ran as a therapeutic community -- with a very little sense of community, and even less therapy.

I was there in 1987. I spent 10 months there, and I must say, it was the best 10 months of my life. Prior to Freedom House, I had been in 7 rehabs and 1 mental institution. Freedom House saved my life. I learned to deal with life on life's terms, even stayed sober after the death of my mother in 1989. Freedom House gave me the tools I needed to live a happy, productive, sober life. Again, this was back in 1987, I do not know how it is now.

Graduate #107 Nov 1992 - July 1993 at the age of 22, Mike O gave me my jacket. That would as 25+ years ago. At the time I could not see everything freedom house taught me. After spending 8 months in this place, the ups and the downs, finnaly getting over myself and believing in something, this place gave me such a gift. A new life to experience. Since my stay I have gained a career, got married, got divorced, became a father, created wealth and lost it all, friends have come and gone, family became important and my life, being a good man became most important, taking responsibility and being able to provide for my son. An unbelievable and wild ride. Although my life have not been always the best, I continue to use all the tools shown to me and more. I continue to strive each day to be the best I can be, love with all I am, and work hard for my family. I learned to volunteer, and give my experience to others. Becoming apart of some great organizations and a role model for my son. All due to what freedom house and the guys I was there with. Thank you so much, please never let those doors close.
