Since I attended the nearby University 40 years ago, the Reservation has been upgraded with trail info which improves the experience a lot. I only knew of one trail in the 1980s, so I missed much of this natural oasis in suburban Essex County. I love Mills.

Passive park with Choice of marked walking/hiking paths. Carriage-type walks and rocky paths. Good view of BYC skyline at top. Not a steep elevation but requires some mobility to get to top.

Great easy walking hike with a nice view of the city and overlook area. No bathroom at the entrance/parking lot area.
Small parking lot, lots of people parked along the side of the road which was fine. Lots of people walking their dogs on and off leashes but dogs were friendly.💚 lots of families with small children, easy enjoyable walking trail. Some mountain bikers.

It's a great hiking trail spot. Lots of different trails to take around the entire land. It's nowhere near as large as South Mountain Reservation, but I prefer it because the different trails cutting through each other allows anyone to tailor their walk length to their desire.

The main trail is 1.5 miles. It’s a great walk. The view of Manhattan is outstanding but has been disappearing over the years from tree growth. I’ve tracked the sun’s movment between solstices, the winter solstice puts it right over Manhattan and progresses North to June 21.
