First time visiting Blue Cliff Monastery's "A Day of Mindfulness" event at the end of November 2025. The event included: Q & A Session, Walking Meditation, Live Dharma Talk, Mindful Lunch practice w/ reading of 5 Contemplations. We were given headsets for English translation during the Q&A which was helpful. The monks were welcoming, wonderful space, people were polite and respectful. They offered a short introductory for first timers, that walked us through the customs and what to expect for the scheduled activities. I was grateful for the experience and hope to be back soon.
I had such a peaceful and transformative experience at Blue Cliff Monastery. It truly felt like a reset for my mind and body. The working, sitting, and walking meditations were deeply grounding something I believe everyone should try at least once.
The food was simply amazing ; nourishing, wholesome, and prepared with such care. And the brothers - Brother Earth, Brother Ocean, Brother Emptiness, and many others were all so inspiring, kind, and welcoming.
I left with so much calm and clarity, and I honestly can’t wait to be back. 🌿✨
Peaceful and beautiful monastery by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, just 1hour+ away from New York City. Come on sunday if you wanna join a mindfulness day, hosted weekly from very early morning to fully enjoy your day. Fall in bluecliff is incredible, walking meditation in the forest is one of the most peaceful way to reconnect to the nature. Otherwise, there is tea in the kitchen, feel free to make your own, sit down and enjoy! No rush, no stress, in gratitude, just love ❤️
Blue Cliff Monastery is a mindfulness practice center and monastic training center founded by the Vietnamese Buddhist monk, author, and peace activist--our beloved teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh.
Blue Cliff is a place to quiet the mind, look deeply, and enjoy the wonders of life within and around us through the practices of sitting meditation, walking meditation, mindful eating, deep relaxation meditation, and sharing togetherness.
One of my favorite places to go to relax and to be in nature. The Sangha(monks) are always very welcoming, the Dharma talks always insightful & lunch is always delicious. I usually go there at least every three months when they’re open. This was my first visit in almost 2 years since Covid and it was so wonderful to finally be back!! It is donation based so please make a donation of $15-$20.
