Castle point VA is second to none!! Very good hospital with a great staff at all levels of care. The dental clinic is the best there is and is run by the great Dr Gasperini !! Thanks for all your hard work in addressing all my dental needs. Thanks!!!
Have not been disappointed with the health care at Castle Point. Never a long wait at appointments, even at urgent care and the staff are friendly, competent and concerned with veteran health.
So far I've gotten some of the best care, that I've ever experienced. I live close to the facility and I've have taken advantage of most of the programs I'm eligible for. My questions are asked and answered timely and professionally.
As a native of the Hudson Valley and a service-connected veteran, I've been using this VA for over a decade and have experience with both the Hudson Valley and Caribbean VA systems.
Castle Point excels in specialist care, such as endocrinology, gastroenterology, gynecology, psychology, and psychiatry. The specialists here are consistently helpful, knowledgeable, and reliable, making specialist visits a 10/10.
However, Urgent Care has been problematic since Dr. Sexton's retirement. The subsequent urgent care doctors have sometimes made risky decisions, including a misdiagnosis that led to a life-threatening illness and an unsafe withdrawal from medication.
While most staff members are kind and professional, there are occasional exceptions. Dr. Shah from the E2 department is exceptional and saved my life when I was in septic shock due to an urgent care doctor's malpractice.
Scheduling appointments with specialists can be challenging, but the quality of care makes it worthwhile. Overall, VA care outperforms private care on average, with a few urgent care exceptions.
