I would recommend this office for routine annual exams, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend them for symptomatic or "problem-focused" visits. For some time, I expressed concerns regarding changes in my cycle and mood, but the response I received felt very passive. I was told that "some women's cycles are worse than others" and was quickly referred to my primary doctor for antidepressants. My PCP was confused as to why this was the first recommendation instead of a more thorough gynecological investigation.

As my symptoms worsened—including pain during intimacy and sharp abdominal pains—I returned to see NP Janine Durant. She was very attentive and ordered an ultrasound, which I appreciated. However, after the results came back, I was told that Dr. Kasello reviewed them and felt the fibroids were "tiny" and likely not the cause of my pain, suggesting pelvic floor therapy instead. I was also told that I would need another separate appointment with Dr. Kasello just to discuss the possibility of surgery.

Since moving to Texas, I have consulted with four different physicians who have all reached a different conclusion. After several ultrasounds and an MRI, these doctors confirmed that the location of the fibroids is the primary source of my pain. Because my uterus is retroflexed, the fibroids on the fundus are pushed against my rectum and spine.

I am now scheduled for a laparoscopic myomectomy. My surgeon also suspects endometriosis that went undetected, which will be addressed during the same procedure. I am sharing this because I was very disappointed by how my symptoms were handled. I spent months feeling like my concerns were disregarded, only to find out there were significant, treatable physical issues. If you have persistent symptoms, I encourage you to be your own advocate and perhaps seek a second opinion.

I met Dr. Kasello today for the first time. I’m older ( well past childbearing) so my needs are simple- just exam and issues of senior years. I found her to be forthright and responsive, asking good questions and making suggestions regarding health care for women my age, like evaluation for bone density. She did not rush me. I liked her and plan to see her in the future
