Volunteered with Glen Cove Beautification Committee to clean up the litter on the grounds. Met a couple of deer along the road way.
Attended a ceremony today honoring two survivors. Drove past Gatsby mansions on the Gold Coast and snaked through the preserve passing parked cars of hikers.
The museum, staff, and grounds including the butterfly garden with 10/7/23 tribute are well worth the visit.

Everybody knows the painful history of the Holocaust. This is a must see, the grounds are beautiful with the Welwynn Preserve adjacent. They have a children's rememberence garden that will leave you thinking for quite sometime. Plus inside one of the old Gatsby Era mansions is the museum with some incredible artifacts. I grew up here so I know the area well. Its a bit off the beaten track but just que up the address on Google Maps and it will guarantee you a day to remember .
I didn't go inside the building, but the children's garden/ the garden itself was phenomenal. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone. Beyond touching quotes (and small bios) from some phenomenal humans that were perished. All the senses are attuned here.
In love with the garden, can stay here all day. So much nature and life. So many butterflies and rabbits, highly recommend.
Met some of the staff here, who are dedicated to helping people learn more about the Holocaust and what led to the Holocaust. The staff at the center are very knowledgable.
There's a hidden trail that leads you to the beach/ long Island Sound. Highly recommend.
What a find in Glen Cove, NY. We had to call to get directions in because it's a little hidden away, but it did not disappoint. The people were super nice and helpful. There was so much information and so many treasures. The garden was as breathtakingly beautiful as it was heartbreaking. I highly recommend it.
