I've been trying to get mental healthcare for the last 2 years and in doing so have experienced a lot of ableism at the hands of medical professionals. I was previously with Lifestance and they wasted nearly a year of my life shuffling me between providers, but not actually giving me any treatment. On my first appointment with Dr. Moon she listened to me and actually agreed to let me trial the medication that once worked for me a very long time ago (Adderall 5mg XR). I also like my therapist so far, Garrett. I usually will not see male providers at all, but he is also a member of the LGBTQ+ community which helps me feel more understood in that aspect. I will update this review in a month's time once I have had more appointments. It scares me that so many of the other reviews reflect similar experiences to the one I had at Lifestance because if I have to ever change doctors again, I won't, I will simply give up. It's so hard even trying to get mental healthcare without all the stigmas around it, and the hurdles of dealing with blatantly ableist individuals who are sadly employed as medical professionals. It's what made me not even try for a long time and I suffered so much because of it. I just wish medical care, especially for mental health, wasn't another corporatized product of capitalism designed to put profit before people, but it's the world we live in now. I really hope Hygeia continues to work for me and I'm so sorry to those who were burned, as I completely understand what they went through. I'm leaving 3 starts for now, as I find that to be a neutral rating, and plan to update in the future.
Since posting a 1-star review because the practice was so slow in responding to my daughter's initial email to them, they have responded with lightening speed. The bad review definitely got their attention. I am hopeful that any future interactions my daughter has with them are positive and I will turn this into a good review.
Update: since re-posting this as a 2-star review, the practice has sent my daughter forms, etc., to set up a consultation, so at least things are now moving forward, so I've upgraded to 3 stars.
Update: I'm upgrading to 4 stars. We had a bumpy start but since then the practice has been responsive to my daughter and she has had a consultation and has her first appointment with a therapist this week. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she makes a good connection with this therapist.
Last update: I have now given this practice 5 stars. My daughter had her first appointment with her new therapist last week and it went well. This is just the beginning, but I"m feeling very hopeful because the person doing the consultation seemed to understand my daughter and matched her with a therapist she can relate to.
I have nothing but amazing things to say about Hygeia Integrated Health. I spent months desperately looking for new provider after one of the worst places I have been too.
I found Hygeia, and the front desk was so kind and awesome people. They treated me like a person and got me in quickly. My intake was amazingly professional and the owner really took time to get to know me, listen and accept me for who I am. She found the perfect match for me.
My psychiatrist is amazing, our first session was painless and overall just a great experience and I felt safe enough to be me. For once I did not feel like another number, and just someone who they wanted my insurance money. They treated me like I said before, like a human being.
Thank you Hygeia,
So much I look forward to continuing my time with you guys.
